Letter from Daniel: Dear PIVOT Members,

As a long-time resident, city councilor, and small business owner within the district, I have experience and expertise that makes me the best Democratic nominee for Oregon. I ran a successful campaign earning the highest votes to win the Lake Oswego City Council election in 2018. I was the first elected Vietnamese-American public official in Oregon. During my nearly four years on council, I have gained a broad understanding of the multiple functions of local government, which parallels the state legislature in many ways.

In my role as City Councilor, I have gained experience in land use, planning, economic development, Diversity Equity & Inclusion efforts, and labor negotiations with police, fire, and municipal workers. As a councilor, I have also been involved in intergovernmental partnerships with Metro, state, county, and school districts to address broader issues and projects that affect our community.

After serving nearly four years as an elected leader during an especially difficult time in our history, I am even more committed and determined to serve my community here in my town and across the state. I want to work with PIVOT to elevate Vietnamese-American voices throughout our local communities, and national ones as well. We have a record number of 5 Vietnamese-Americans running this year for state representatives, and it’s been an honor to be part of history.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I look forward to working with your team.
