PIVOT Endorses Bruce Huynh for Alum Rock (San Jose, CA) School Board
/September 17, 2018
PIVOT is very pleased to endorse Bruce Huynh in his race for the Board of Trustees of the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District. Shaping the educational experience of our children is one of the most important steps in building a better future for all of us.
Bruce proudly mentions to friends and supporters that his Vietnamese middle name “Học” means learning in Vietnamese. While Bruce was growing up, his mother was a housekeeper and his father was a restaurant worker. Both Bruce and his sister worked while going to school. Coming from an immigrant and working-class family gives him firsthand experience of the issues many of Alum Rock District families currently face. Having taught in the San Jose public school system, Bruce also brings a teacher’s perspective to the Alum Rock School Board. He is determined to use his background and experience to champion the rights of the Alum Rock students, parents, and staff. For more information about Bruce, please see his website.
Bruce is an example of the promising young progressive Vietnamese Americans that PIVOT is proud to support, and that our community needs to develop to represent us. We encourage Vietnamese Americans to donate to his campaign and to volunteer.
