PIVOT Statement on the Results of the 2024 Presidential Election on November 5, 2024
/PIVOT is deeply troubled by the alarming results of the 2024 Presidential Elections. Donald Trump’s second presidency will be disastrous for many Americans, including women, people of color, immigrants, the LGBTQIA+ community, and working families. His rhetoric and past actions raise serious concerns about the future of our democracy itself.
However, it is important to note that half of all Americans oppose Trump and his policies. As engaged and organized communities we have power in this country. We will continue to advocate for policies that protect the rights of all Americans, promote equity, and preserve the democratic principles upon which this nation was founded..
PIVOT was born in the wake of Trump’s 2016 victory to organize Vietnamese Americans against the first Trump administration. Today, we stand stronger and more prepared to defend vulnerable communities, to resist tyranny, and to fight for justice.
As children of refugees, we understand the struggle for survival and the power of resilience. Our heritage reminds us of our capacity to dream and achieve in the face of adversity. Our community has supported each other through the worst times, and we are here for each other now.
Let’s take the time to give yourself care and kindness on this tough post-election day, then join the fight! We are in this community together today and beyond. Sign up to join PIVOT here and come along with us on this fight!
In solidarity,
The PIVOT Team
